Oct 3rd. 2020 Arizona 10 point S2S Madness event.
What has become an annual event in Arizona, seems to be leading the country in one very unique event.
All over Arizona, Hams interested in the challenge and opportunity head for the 10 point Summits for what Pete refers to as Madness.
This year, my brother KI7OFN (Estell) and myself wanted a drive up opportunity, we headed for Heliograph W7A/AE-011.
Found the drive up was just 2.2 miles short of the peak as the gate at Shannon Campground was locked up tight.
25lb pack to the back, started off at 8700' ft, not bad as we took the access road on foot. 8700 to 10,000' over a 1.45 hr hike at that altitude, at my age and weight this was a real workout.
ADEQ - Dave on Bigelow was an easy trip with 59 both ways.
N1CLC - Chris on South Mountain Phx. 59 both ways as well. Also caught him on 14.324, really surprised as it was the same quality as 2m.
W7AMR - Attila was on Azlec Peak, 59 both ways 2m. About 150 miles on FM.
